RCP Shelters Plays a Mayor Role
RCP Shelters Inc, the industry’s most diverse shelter manufacturer, and its 55-year legacy extends its presence to Jacksonville University. RCP Shelters’ engineers are certified in all 50 states and Canada. The Jacksonville University Amphitheater broke ground on March 3, 2012 destined for a May 14, 2012 completion. Ed Gribben, RCP project manager, states, “The project has progressed smoothly.” The 50’ x 51’ amphitheater consists of structural tube steel columns, laminated Southern YellowPine (SYP) beams, and #1 grade SYP T&G roof deck.
The Jacksonville University Amphitheater came with complex requirements and high expectations. This landmark required an eave of almost 29’, support for thousands of pounds of lighting, and hot-dipped galvanized steel columns to protect against the salt air environment. Following the galvanizing process, the columns were factory finish painted and field wrapped with brick to complete the desired architectural appearance.
These details are the cornerstone to building a quality structure, and the standard by which RCP Shelters delivers its products. The project had several other key contributors. Dasher Hurst Architects, CMS Group, LLC (Construction Manager/Owners Representative), and KBT Contracting (Installer) all played key roles in the project.
